Honda News – Civic prices for 2012 and hybrid NSX

The prices for the 2012 Civic range from $15,605 to $24,050, as follows:
2012 Honda Civic Sedan / Civic Coupe – powered by a 1.8L inline 4-cylinder engine making 140-hp at 6,500 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque of 4,300 rpm – $15,805 / $15,605;
2012 Honda Civic HF – a value-oriented, high fuel-economy sedan with the best highway fuel economy rating (41 mpg) for a conventional, gasoline-only powered vehicle with an automatic transmission – $19,455;
2012 Honda Civic Hybrid –uses the company’s IMA system with a new lithium-ion battery pack and gets a larger 1.5L i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine making 110-hp at 5,500 rpm and 127 lb-ft of torque at 1,000-3,500 rpm; the electric-motor provides an addition 23-hp – $24,050;
2012 Honda Civic Si Sedan /Civic Si Coupe – powered by a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine making 201-hp at 7,000 rpm and 170 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm – $22,405 / $22,205;
At the second event, even more exciting news has been delivered by the president of Honda Motor Co., Takanobu Ito: he confirmed that the company is working on a successor to the NXS sport model (Acura NSX in North America) – a hybrid version! According to autonews.com, Ito announced the car would be “exhilarating to drive but also environmentally friendly”, as “that’s the kind of sports car [Honda] wants to make.”
Although the representatives did not give away any technical details or a launching date, the car is expected to use an electric drivetrain, to increase the power of the gasoline engine, and to be a high-performance counterpart to the two-seat Honda CR-Z sporty hybrid.
