2011 New York Auto Show
Even though Vince Vaughn referred to electric vehicles as gay cars, as in “not homosexual gay, but my-parents-are-chaperoning-the-dance gay”, in a recent movie he played in (The Dilemma), don’t get fooled by that image, as the zero emission technology is totally in – clean and cool! Check out some of the concept vehicles that will debut at 2011 NY Auto Show:
Nissan LEAF NISMO RC – powered by a lithium-ion battery composed of 48 compact modules and a high-response 80kW AC synchronous motor that generates 107-hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. It can be charged 80% in 30 minutes using a quick charging port, and can go from 0 to 62
mph in 6.85 seconds with a top speed of 93 mph.
Lexus LF-Gh Hybrid Concept – power comes from a Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain, with no specifications released yet.
Scion FR-S – which is in fact a version of the Toyota FT-86 Concept for the US market; details are to be revealed officially at the 2011 NY Auto Show.
And a different kind of ‘concept vehicle’:
Mercedes-Benz Concept A-Class – powered by a transversely mounted 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged, direct-injected engine that produces 210-hp with a maximum torque of 229 lb-ft.

I was impressed when the Jaguar XF made it’s grand debut at the show; it’s a departure from the older Jaguar models due to its contemporary and modern design. Jaguar cars are just getting sleeker and more modern with every unveiling.
