Lady Gaga – GaGavision: Honor Thy Vomit!

It’s no shocker that Lady Gaga used yet again religious ideas and elements to create a buzz around her controversial music. However, it makes one wonder: “for how long will she be doing that? Isn’t exploiting religious ides in order to shock the public kind of overrated?  Cause, really, Madonna has already made a name for herself out of that.” Check out some of the lyrics to her new single Judas: “Ohhh, I’m in love with Judas […] “When he comes to me I am ready/ I’ll wash his feet with my hair if he needs/ Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain/ Even after three times, he betrays me/ I’ll bring him down, I came with no crown.”

The lyrics have drawn an even bigger wave of criticism from religious leaders than on previous occasions. “This is a stunt. Lady Gaga tries to continue to shock Catholics and Christians in general: she dresses as a nun, she swallows the rosary. She has now morphed into a caricature of herself,” said Catholic League President Bill Donohue. In response, Mother Monster stated that some people still don’t understand her and her art.

Judas is the most provocative single yet to come out of her creative process, and even though it was scheduled for release on April 19, after it leaked on April 15, the singer decided to “put herself out of misery” and make the release earlier. She made sure, however that no shot from of the video-making process for the single was taken by the paparazzi. Making the video – she co-directed it with her creative director, Laurieann Gibson – was “the most exciting moment of her career” and “the greatest work she’s done”, as she enthused on Twitter.

The Judas video is expected to premiere in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, here’s a clip (43) of the Gagavision series of clips made for her fans, in which she talks about the Judas leaking, calling it a “slow death”, and then she goes on to describe her creative process as “15 minutes of vomiting creative ideas […] the idea is that you have to honor your vomit”. Well, if the Mother Monster says so…
