Robert Pattinson to portray Kurt Cobain?
Few days ago, The Sun reported that Robert Pattinson will portray Kurt Cobain in a biopic called “All Apologies”. Moreover, Courtney Love was supposedly the one who proposed R Patz (blame it on the fans! ) for the role of her ex-husband. And, if you wonder who was Courtney’s first choice in playing her, the answer is: Scarlett Johansson! The similarities between the two are striking: first of all, they are both blondes, second… Well, at least Scarlett is a good actress and we all know make up can do miracles these days.
But let’s get back to our vampire, wanna-be rock star. Pattinson apparently “has always thought of himself as a musician rather than an actor”. So, there’s no surprise that the part of Nirvana frontman is the dream role for the young actor. But will this dream come true? According to Jonathan Daniel, Love’s manager, everything is just “an amazing story, and the first I’ve heard of any of this…. Courtney likes Scarlett Johansson as an actress and as a person, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she wanted her to play her. I’m not sure she knows who R Patz is, but he sure is cute”. Nonetheless, he confirmed that a film was in the making, based on the famous biography of Kurt Cobain – “Heavier Than Heaven”.
So, maybe after all we won’t see R Patz playing Kurt Cobain. Relieved? Although there’s no denying that a vampire can “smell the teen spirit” better than anyone or anything else, I have a strong feeling that there are more actors out there better suited for this role.
