Jennifer Aniston Goes Viral for Smartwater
In order to promote their product, the people from Smartwater have decided to launch a commercial starring none other than popular American sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston. But this is no ordinary commercial. It was intended to become a viral video, and apparently it succeeded.
In the video launched on YouTube on Monday (March 7), Aniston plays a pitch-woman who attempts to make a viral video with the help of three “lovely Internet boys”. Taking into consideration all the “ingredients” that have contributed to making videos go viral – a lip-synching Keenan Cahill, adorable babies, cute puppies, a skateboarding dog, a talking parrot, a double rainbow guy, and kicking another guy in the groin, which “apparently is worth about 100,000 hits” – Aniston and the Smartwater team managed to incorporate them in a very funny manner in their video. Adding some sexy Aniston hair flipping while drinking Smartwater, and naming the video “Jen Aniston sex-tape” – although the ad has nothing to do with sex –, the creators obtained what they were going for: over 4 million hits in just three days, and the number is soaring.
While lightly mocking the concept of viral videos, this ad also shows that some things just always sell. It is really good. Check it out!
