Hasta La Vista Politics, Hello Cartoons! [The Governator - Trailer]

After completing his term as Governor of California, 63-year-old bodybuilder-turned-movie-star-turned-politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger, decided to return to the entertainment industry. He will be back to showbiz with a TV cartoon series and a comic book, both based on a character (suggestively) called The Governator, and due for release next year.

The name is clearly a mix between Governor and Terminator, bringing together two important aspects of Schwarzenegger’s career. Although the term was used by journalists as a not-so-endearing-nickname during his 2003 election campaign, Arnie thought it was cool. And now, it really helps him make a cool comeback to the industry that made him famous.

The Austrian-born actor will provide the voice of the title character, who will actually be his animated alter-ego – a former governor who decides to devote his life to fighting crime. The TV and comic series will embrace both aspects of Arnie’s everyday life as a family man, and superheroes stunts. The Governator will have a superheroes’ headquarters built under his home in Brentwood, lots of super vehicles, gadgets and gizmos, a team of high-tech savvies, including 13-year-old cyber security expert, Zeke Muckerberg – a character probably inspired by Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook)’s genius success –, and, of course, a group of villains to fight against, referred to as the G.I.R.L.I.E Men – a mocking acronym for Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars and Irredeemable Ex-cons. The TV and comic series are meant to be a fictional continuation of Schwarzenegger’s actions as a politician who wants the best for his co-nationals. Even though he’s been unable to solve California’s budget problems due to constant fighting with state senators, he will soon be able to gain fictional victories for his people.

Importantly enough, to create the series, the former Governor will team up with renowned comic creator, Stan Lee, creator of many famous superheroes, such as X-Men, Spider Man and The Hulk. In an interview given to Entertainment Weekly, Lee seemed more than thrilled about working with him. There are many politicians that lend themselves to a cartoon, but as far as being a superhero, we’re lucky there’s only one Schwarzenegger. And I got him!, enthused the comic icon. In the same interview, the former Governor revealed, however, that returning to showbiz as The Governator is only second to running for President. You know the Constitution doesn’t allow me to run for President because otherwise, I wouldn’t be standing here in a leather jacket, he told EW.
