At HiFi Arena, Bang&Olufsen presented the BeoSound 5 player. Actually, this player was presented here for the first time in the world. I don’t have to mention again that this player has a very interesting design. Basically, the design is the first thing that will make you say “wow” when you see it. Second of all, BeoSound 5 reintroduce an old pleasure of the user, the one of scrolling the wheels. It has such a friendly user way of searching through the artist, albums and tracks, between different radio stations, or cd’s by using a huge wheel.

BeoSound 5 comes with a new featured developed by B&O. This feature is called MOTS (More of the Same). The player analyzes what kind of music you you listening to and scans your music library to create a playlist based on the parameters analyzed. Basically, you choose to listen a couple of tracks, and BeoSound 5 will take the control after. The parameters analyzed by the MOTS are rhythm, syncopation, key tonality and vocal harmonies. Now, the player knows your mood and will try to satisfy your music needs.

The BeoSound 5 is capable of playing WMA lossless files. This format of files contains the bits that are missing in the MP3 format. So, the listening experience will be much more closer to the reality. The player comes with another unit, called BeoMaster 5. This unit is the “brain” of the system. It has a 500GB HD drive, capable of storing the songs and the galleries. Also, it has the ability of playing Internet Music (N.Music), Internet Radio (N.Radio), Photos and even Web browsing. Supported formats are WMA, WMA Lossless, MP3, WAV, ASF, AAC, ASX, M3U, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF, JPEG, JPG, MPEG, MPE, PMG, AVI, WMV, VFW1111. The software inside works on Microsoft Windows XP embedded.

Did I mention something about photos and web browsing??? Yes. The BeoSound 5 has an “album cover” feature. Through the 1024×768 LCD display, the user can see the album cover of the played album. This album cover feature is so easy to use using the BeoConnect software.

The BeoSound 5 has two very interesting stands. One of them is a black soft touch laquered iron stable and the other is a silver iron/zinc floor stand.

The only thing that I can say is that by far the Bang&Olufsen BeoSound 5 player was the most interesting device seen on HiFi Arena Bucharest 2008.

It is equipped with medical emergency equipment and high speed survelliance devices. It has a refrigerated cabinet in the hood for transporting donor organs and a defibrillator on-board. So, the policemen have to know some medical studies. There are 30 police officers (including 3 women) that have been trained for using the medical equipment.

But this car is not just an ambulance. It has attached in the front a live video camera connected to the station that surveillance the traffic and the speed of the cars. This camera is connected with a GPS device. Both of them, working together, make everything much more easier. The camera broadcasts live the chasing and transmits all the data (location, speed, direction, license plate number) to the police station using radio data transmission. This way, the details about the pursued car are already found out.

Now, this is the most powerful police car at the moment!

So, what’s so new about this news? Well, it seems that the Volkwagen boarding launched a secret plan for starting building this car in 2010. Their only problem till now was the price. Now they managed to drop the price. But about the price we’ll tell you later in the article.

The 238mpg 1 liter Car has a range of 404 miles which means over 650 kilometers with just 6.5 liter of fuel. Isn’t this amazing? Yes it is. Just think that for a journey around the Earth the car will need just 63 refuel times.

The car has 299 cc and a 8.4 hp diesel engine. Like a medium performance kart. But solving the “238mpg” problem doesn’t consist just in the engine. The car has an incredible aerodynamic shape and no rear mirrors (there are video cameras instead). The weight is around 300 kilograms which reduces the consume of fuel very much.

The passenger shall not have a very comfortable journey because its position is behind the driver’s seat, but he can feel safe because the car is equipped with ABS/ESP and airbag for the driver. Also, the car has LED headlights and taillights which makes the car’s aspect more natural. The AC will be only optional. I don’t want to know how it will smell in that car at the maximum speed, with two persons inside and with the sun shining bright outside.

The price announced is somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 Euros. It’s a little bit expensive but when buying a car like this you must think about the benefits to the nature and not about the money you will save.

While listening to the album for the first time (during work), I thought is such a great album with a good vocal interpretation and a very clear soundtrack. But after listening it more and more I realized that “In Search of Cleo” fails in unity. I feel that there are too many genres, too many ideas. I like every single track, but I dislike the album as a whole. It’s a pity that Gina didn’t try to go more deeply with her legacy of jazz style, for which her voice is made! She loves singing, there is no doubt about that! But she should try to find her very own style, that makes the listener stay very close to the tracks, to find a way to give even more homogeneity between lyrics, soundtrack and her style of singing.

The lyrics taken as an individual part are great. The main theme is about a middle aged woman, who lost her… cat (try to find a synonym for cat), who speaks about her life experience in different moments of life. It may not be Gina’s life, but each song can be one woman’s experience.

“In Search of Cleo” is a must-have album. You’ll listen to it very rare, but you’ll feel the energy that Gina Gershons sends through her voice with every second. You can buy “In Seach of Cleo” here.

This year is the 10th Dubai Air Show and takes place between Sunday 11th – Thursday 15th Nov.

Two hundred exhibitors took part in Dubai Airs Show 89. The show covered 7,000 square metres at Dubai International Airport, taking up one large exhibition hall. Twenty-five aircraft were on display and 10,000 industry visitors attended.

This weeks main car event is the 2007 SEMA . The SEMA Show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world . This event is not opened to general public . This event will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center between TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30 and FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2 . The event attracts more than 100,000 industry leaders from over 100 countries . SEMA is segemented into 11 sections, and a New Products Showcase features more than 2,000 newly introduced parts, tools and components.

If we had to guess, we’d say the engine’s ECU has been massaged by APR for a few extra horsepower. Behind the custom wheels appears to be a set of upgraded Brembo brakes with drilled rotors and the APR logo on the caliper. The two-tone paint scheme actually makes the R8 look better than it already did.
